Fatal Pedestrian Accident On Kings Highway Tuesday Highlights Need For Drivers To Stay Vigilant

Drivers in our community need to always stay on the watch for pedestrians. As Port Charlotte has grown, so has the number of people who are out and about in our community. A pedestrian could be on the road at any time of day and even on roads or intersections where you least expect them. Unfortunately, Florida Highway Patrol just announced a fatal pedestrian accident in our community. This tragic accident could have been avoided if the parties involved were more careful. While drivers cannot control what pedestrians do, we can make sure that we pay more attention, and keep an eye out for pedestrians while traveling on or near our local roads.
48-Year-Old Woman From Lehigh Acres Dies After Being Struck By A Vehicle On Kings Highway Tuesday Evening
Florida Highway Patrol has announced that a woman was killed after a car ran into her while crossing Kings Highway and Sandhill Boulevard last Tuesday evening.
The driver of the sedan involved in the accident was a female age 22 from Arcadia, Florida with a female passenger age 6 also from Arcadia, Florida.
The accident took place as a pedestrian, a 48-year-old woman from Lehigh Acres, Florida was walking on the northbound travel lane of Kings Highway.
As the woman crossed King's highway and Sandhill Boulevard at 8:59 P.M., a sedan with a woman age 22 from Arcadia Florida collided with the pedestrian.
The sedan came to rest along the right shoulder of Kings Highway, the pedestrian came to rest in the northbound travel lane of Kings Highway.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene.
FHP has stated that the accident remains under investigation.
