FHP Seeks Public's Help Identifying Driver in Hit-and-Run Crash On Interstate-4

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is appealing to the community for assistance in identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash earlier this week. The incident occurred on July 14, 2024, around 11:00 A.M. on the westbound lanes of I-4, near mile marker 67. A red 2017 Chevrolet Camaro attempted to switch lanes from the center to the inside lane, colliding with a white 2016 Hyundai Tucson. This collision caused the Hyundai to veer off the road, overturning on the right shoulder.

After the crash, three individuals from the Camaro fled on foot and were picked up by a gray or silver vehicle, whose make and model remain unknown. Witnesses described these individuals as black or Hispanic males, likely in their early 20s. The Hyundai's driver, a 20-year-old female, was not transported from the scene.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact *FHP (*347) or CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS (1-800-423-8477).

Leaving the scene of a crash that causes property damage, injury, or death is illegal. The FHP emphasizes the importance of staying at the scene after a crash and the difficulties law enforcement faces when investigating hit-and-run incidents. If you're involved in a crash, it's crucial to stay put, seek help, and follow these steps:

• Stay calm and check if you and your passengers are okay.
• If possible, move your vehicle to the side of the road. If you exit the vehicle, remove your keys, stay off the roadway, and find a safe spot.
• Check on the condition of others involved. Call 911 if anyone is injured or if a vehicle is inoperable.
• If there are no serious injuries or significant property damage, exchange information with the other driver(s). Obtain names, driver’s license numbers, insurance details, and tag information. Take photos of the vehicles and any relevant information if writing it down isn’t possible, and then file a report online.
