Ford Is Starting Off The Year With A Sizable F150 Recall

For Sarasota and area F-150 owners, you may be expecting a recall notice in the mail soon. In December of 2021, Ford issued a recall of more than 180,000 2021 and 2022 F-150 pickup truck vehicles due to a potentially dangerous driveshaft issue. This issue was first investigated all the way back in July of 2021, with the findings coming to light in December. Investigators at Ford believe that only about 10% of 2021 and 2022 Ford vehicles will have the defect with the insulators leading to the driveshaft issue, but that all vehicles should be checked to determine if the defect is present or not. If drivers notice a rattling, clicking, or clunky noise coming from their vehicle while they’re driving, this is a good sign that they may own one of the affected vehicles. The issue is believed to primarily affect Ford F-150 4x4 SuperCrew models with the optional sound insulation package.

Ford is expected to begin sending out recall notices to all owners of the affected vehicles starting in late January of 2022.
