Crash Details and Road Conditions on US 17 in Charlotte County
The portion of US 17 near Calle Bonita includes fast-moving traffic and limited pedestrian infrastructure. These cases are deeply personal because they affect not only one individual but entire families and neighborhoods.
How Drivers Can Prevent Tragedies on Busy Multi-Lane Roads
Preventing pedestrian crashes comes down to awareness and empathy behind the wheel. Drivers can make a meaningful difference by adopting a few simple habits every day.Slow down near intersections and side streets.
Stay alert for people walking or biking near the roadway.
Put distractions away and keep your eyes on traffic ahead.
Be mindful of glare during morning and evening hours.
Always yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk or entering the road.
Even a few seconds of reduced speed or extra awareness can save a life.
